Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has revealed there has been “progress” in contract talks that could keep him at the club next season.

The 33-year-old, along with team-mates Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are out of contract at the end of the season but the defender hinted a decision on his future could be nearing. Asked
after Liverpool’s 3-2 Premier League defeat at Fulham on whether there had been progress in talks, Van Dijk told reporters: “There has been progress.”
Pressed further on what he meant, the Netherlands international added: เว็บพนันออนไลน์ UFABET สมัครง่าย โปรโมชั่นมากมาย “Listen, these are internal discussions. We’ll see in a little while. “
I love the club, I love the fans and they were with us again (at Fulham). We want to repay them but I’m asking them to come back on Sunday and help make the stadium a great place to be.”
The Dutchman had continually insisted the situation remained the same and recently suggested a breakthrough may only come when his current terms had expired.
But speaking to journalists including The Athletic‘s James Pearce after Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Fulham, Van Dijk said “there is progress” when it comes to his negotiations.
“I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said when asked if that meant he would be a Liverpool player beyond this season.
Liverpool, who lead the league by a wide margin, host West Ham on Sunday. They are 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal and could secure their second league title in six years in the coming weeks.
